Instructor of Outdoor Education - Job Description

We need a dynamic, highly motivated person with a passion for working in the outdoors to start in Sept 2010.
Salary Range : £12,500 – 14,500 pa (dependant on qualifications and experience) plus sole use accommodation, meals, benefits and training package worth over £6,000pa.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established and unique outdoor centre in Swaledale in The Yorkshire Dales National Park. Based in an 850 year old converted Medieval Priory on the banks of the River Swale, the centre runs courses throughout the year for children, young people and adults.
We run a varied programme; involving caving, canoeing, rock climbing and hill walking so training or assessment in some of the following NGBs would be desirable.
- BCU Level 2 Kayak and Canoe Coach
- LMCLA Level 1 Cave Leader
- MLTB Single Pitch Award
- MLTB Summer Mountain Leader
In addition you must also have:
- Current First Aid qualification
- Full clean driving licence (preferably with D1 entitlement)
D1 training and further NGB training is available for the successful applicant.
You should posses excellent communication skills, be enthusiastic and motivated with a mature outlook and have a sound understanding of the purpose and benefits of Outdoor Education. These personal qualities are just as significant as specific NGB Awards.
